Hello. My name is Linda Frazee. For the last 40 years, I've been helping individuals 'get out of their' way so they can live a more satisfying, productive, and meaningful life. And so today, as we enter 2022, I'd like to talk to you about what it takes to start out strong in this new year.

I don't know about you, but last year was a difficult year for me as it was for many. And so as we step into the new year, it would be nice if just because this is a new day and a new year that we could just change the calendar. Wouldn't that be great, but it's not that easy. So I've got six steps that I suggest to you that you can begin to do that will make a big difference for you as you step into the new year.

The first thing is to leave the baggage behind.

Now, that's a common phrase that we use, but it's very meaningful. If you go into this year with the negative feelings you had from last year with anger, with, with a lot of fear and angst and trepidation, you're going to carry that right into this year and you'll have more of the same. So I'd like to suggest that you put that down. Of course, wouldn't that be easy if we could just do that, but I can tell you that it is possible to put down that baggage and it makes a big difference. So that's the first that's number one.

Number two is - there's a lot of loss, many of us lost people last year, but even if you didn't literally lose someone, we all lost life as we knew it, that's just been gone for the longest time. And so there's a sense of loss.

And with that, how do we manage to go through our lives and deal with the things the way they are and still have a good attitude? How do we nurture ourselves and still stay present in a society and in a way of living right now, that's different than we ever knew it. That's number two.

Number three is about habits. What habits did you did you develop last year that you'd like to leave behind? Now that's like a new year's resolution. We're real good at making them and harder to keep them because habits are addictive and they're addictive even when they don't service, even when they're not working for us - they're actually working against us. And so it's important to look at the feelings below the habits, not just the habits. If we don't look at the feelings it's like going on a diet for the first five days or the first 10 days of the month, and then falling off, as 90% of most people do, because we're not looking at the deeper meaning of the feelings I'd like to help you with that.

And number four, what about motivation? A lot of people told me last year, they weren't motivated. They just couldn't get themselves to do what they thought they should do. And if you were one of those people, you're not alone because a lot of people felt like that. You see motivation is like a little spark inside and it has to be fanned in order to grow, to just get us to even see the possibilities, let alone act on. So I'd like to help you with that as well. I believe that motivation lives inside of all of us. If we can just get out of our own way.

And then there is not giving ourselves credit. That's number five. I'd like to have you look back at what you did last year to survive, to cope - what worked for you. Not what didn't work, but what did work for you and give yourself credit because you got through one of the most, unusual and historic times in history has happened for the last year and you're alive and well, and you're here. So give yourself credit for how you coped. However it was, because it got you through.

And number six, I believe that starting a new practice - to reinforce being present in this new year - is to practice feeding your soul. Now, I don't know what that is for you. It's a different thing for every certain person. If it's watching a sunset, if it's playing golf, if it's playing Yahtzee, I don't care what it is. If it's reading the books that you've always wanted to read, I don't care what it is, but what it means to you is important. So I challenge you to think about that because when you feed your soul, instead of your body, as we all tended to do last year, you will find yourself much happier in this new year.

So in conclusion, I'd like to issue you an invitation. I'm doing a two part class this year, starting in January. The first one is January 28th at nine o'clock mountain standard time in the morning. And the second one is February 24th at nine o'clock mountain standard time. And all of that is recorded. So if you sign up for the class, you can watch it at your leisure any other time. And you get the two classes for just $49.
